Terms of use
Last updated: 6 October 2026
By using ProperlyPaid, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English on purpose.
What ProperlyPaid provides
ProperlyPaid offers free tools (invoice generators, calculators, and similar utilities) and informational guides for freelancers and small businesses. The tools are provided "as is" — we work hard to make them accurate and reliable, but we can't guarantee they're error-free or suitable for every situation.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is professional tax, legal, or accounting advice. Our guides explain general concepts; our calculators show estimates based on the figures you enter. Tax rules, thresholds, and rates differ by country and change over time. Before making decisions with financial or legal consequences, consult a qualified accountant, tax advisor, or lawyer in your jurisdiction.
Tax figures shown by our calculators are clearly labelled as estimates. Official sources — such as the IRS, GOV.UK/HMRC, the CRA, and the ATO — are the authority on your obligations, not this website.
Your responsibilities
- You're responsible for checking that documents you create meet the legal requirements of your country and situation.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter into the tools.
- You're responsible for keeping your own copies of invoices and records for as long as your tax authority requires.
Acceptable use
Use the tools for their intended purpose: creating legitimate business documents and calculations. Don't use ProperlyPaid to create fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive documents, to impersonate another business, or to attempt to disrupt the site. We may block access for misuse.
Intellectual property
The site's design, text, and guides are ours (or used with permission). The documents you create with our tools — your invoices, quotes, receipts — are entirely yours, with no watermark, branding, or usage restrictions from us.
Third-party links
We link to third-party sites (official tax authorities, software we recommend as affiliates). We're not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Affiliate links are disclosed where they appear.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ProperlyPaid isn't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site — including reliance on estimates, guides, or tool outputs. If a calculator has a bug or a guide is out of date, tell us at hello@properlypaid.com and we'll fix it, but we can't accept liability for decisions made based on free general information.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The "last updated" date above will always reflect the current version, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms.
